I have a Bryston 4b-st driving Canton ergo 120dc speakers , it has both
balanced and unbalanced inputs which are selectable , I tried both
connected simultaneously from the transporter to the power amp and
switched between the 2 , apart from the level difference (the balanced
is softer) , when

RG on or off doesn't change the VU display...
It does on The Transporter.

You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it
ain't what you'd call minimal...

Hi soundcheck, i hv been off line for a few days and thanks v much for
your reply:
1. I checked the 44.1/16 and its stable
2. I run it wired, on a dlink 655 router, shielded cat5 (am getting
cat6a but can tfnd good ones) to a dlink hub 1005d, unshield patch cord
Looks like it's dependent on the song being played.
I have an older album that's noticeably quieter than just about
anything else in my library. Ry Cooder's 'Bop Till You Drop' has an
album ReplayGain of +6.79dB. While playing, the Touch's meters never
hit -7dB.
Then there's the Flobots' 2010
For whatever reason, the analog meters on the Touch seem very
unresponsive and stiff. The analog meters on the SB3 seemed very
responsive, so much so they seemed very realistic and not just a screen
saver.
I suspect it is a hardware limitation and they don't want to eat up all
of the CPU making
I want my VU's! - I do like them! Being the old 60's era burn-out that I
am. The Transporter VU's seem quite accurate. The real beafy bass
heavy stuff gets the meters cranking. Just like on the old Mcintosh!

Darren, you simply have to try both and see which you prefer. There are
no hard rules, it depends on the DAC.
As for glass vs plastic... for the lengths we are talking about it's
irrelevant. I've used 5m cables with no drop-out/lock problems.
IMO the most
Mine seem to max around -3 or so. I've never really payed much
attention to the absolute peak values - clearly off in many cases.
Look much better than they are accurate apparently. Quick photo
attached.

hello, are there people who have compared the transporter's balanced out
to the single-ended out? and can speak to the differences? I wonder if
it's worth experimenting. but my current amp does not have balanced
input. I like class D amps (but don't mind A or A/B),
