relative to the tweeters will change the tonality, also SF speakers
like a certin amount of rearward rake, try starting out with them level
then add a little rake as you go.

quality flac=ALAC I've tried ripping to both and though

isolate the SB3 from the Dac among
other things. Also the newer Stereovox XV2 sounds better than his older
D60 design. But try a DIP I think you'll be very suprised.

Classe is a good match, in fact in the US they are distributed together.
Classe makes a really nice intgrated amp,think it's called the 2200.

After I posted that's kind of what I was thinking. A Classe CAP151
integrated can be had for around a grand. Or a ARC preamp like an LS2B
with a ARC D240mkII or Classe CA200.. all great stuff...

line conditioning. Once you have the basics including proper speaker
placement, then look into outboard dac's.. Benchmark, Lavry, Ps Audio.

The better the speakers the better they will let you hear the flaws up
stream of them. Yes I've listened to Gallo's they sounded great driven
with a Meridian front end and electronics.

FWIW the drivers in these are really just good The tweeters are a
Seas T25CF002 about a $100.00 each and the Pearless Woofers are also
good I wonder what these would sound like with really great drivers
like Scanspeak Revelator series :-)

Lot's of great bookshelf speakers out there. Proac, Monitor Audio,
Totem, BW, just to name a few... Personally I'm a Proac lover, they
just sound like music.. FWIW the older Studio 100 can do bass to about
40hz, not bad for a 6.5 inch woofer.

I found the stock SB3 to be about equal to most inexpensive cd/dvd
players.. $100-$300 range.. Basically decent mass market sound. If
you're going to use it in a revealing higher end system then either an
outboard DAC or say Bolder Mods are the thing to do.

I installed Cardas Golden reference speaker cables they
sounded bright grainey and lacked bass.. after about 100 hours they
don't sound that way, or rather the system doesn't sound that way... So
I'm hearing things?? I guess this is an argument that can't be won.

For any cables I'd suggest that you LISTEN to them. If you are in the
USA you can Borrow cables from http://www.fatwyre.com before buying. If
you have a good system the differences will be obvious, but don't
believe me or anyone else, decide with your own ears.
