I couldn't even find a scratch or dent... so they must have very strict
quality standards. Maybe a little blemish on the top of the right.
Your results may vary, but that's what I

I just got my A2´s, and I am very happy with them. I will change my pc
to the new iMac when it comes out so I thought it would be a nice design
all together.
The speakers are pretty good, but not really ment for a desk job in my
opinion. The reason is that on a desk you sit very close to the speak
I ended up ordering the A5s, B-stock. Received this AM. Listening now.
Superb!
For fun, I connected them to a switch to allow quick side-by-side
comparison of old vs new. (Old = 15 year old boombox with "leftover"
Samsung surround speakers) The differences are astonishing!

Thanks for all the new info, I'll definitely take advantage of the B
Stocks.
Question - I noticed that the A2 has both an 1/8" stereo input and RCA
inputs, but the A5 has just the 1/8" stereo input. Is this anything to
get too excited about in terms of one being "better" than the other? I

There's an ebay seller (audio720) that sells B stock Audioengine A2s and
A5s at a nice price w/free shipping. I recently picked up a pair of A2s
from him and they look brand new in orig packaging.
Search ebay for 'Audioengine 5'

I use the A2s as computer monitors and am very pleased with the sound.
Position is very important however - the tweeters seem quite
directional, at least for near-field listening. I finally ordered the
Audioengine angled bases for the A2s in order to aim them more ideally.

So it sounds like the A5s may be a bit oversized for my space, which

I have the A5 in black.
I feed them with a receiver. A nice unobtrusive package.
They fill my living room ( 18 x 28 ) with most glorious sound.
It's not a listening room, just background music.
I am very happy with the purchase.
As stated before they would be a lot for PC speakers.
They would ROC
Thanks to both for the replies. Of course, now I'm torn! Decisions,
decisions. I think I'll wait another week or so to order, any one else
care to opine?

I have both A2s and A5s. Both have their merits - vfm being one of
them. If your listening room is of any size, go for the A5s. Whilst
not the last word in Audiophile circles for PC-based music, they are
(imho) unbeatable at the price. More than good enough to get you going.

If just for mainly computer use, close to the speaker, and small room,
then I would just get the A2s. If you know for sure that they will be
used in a bigger room and not for near sound listening later, then it
would be worth wild to consider the A5s. As in, if later you might pair
them with an SB
Hi all,
I've been referring to myself as a "budding audiophile" for a couple
years now, and I think the time has come to upgrade to "audiophile in
early bloom" (approaching 30 ... toys are getting more expensive). I
have some money to spend ($200-300) and am trying to choose between the
