After lots of fooling around with cables -- including fooling around
with very expensive cables -- I just gave up.
I more or less understood (understand) the science behind, but, being a
nervous audiophile, I couldn't help myself.
Now, here's the thing: at best, cable will offer some wee bit

While know-it-alls have said the same type of things the last 30 years
amazingly the state of art in stereo reproduction has come a long way

Ha! John, I thought you might be amused by this. I checked out the
Belden lines and in doing so had an exchange with one of their reps.
Who said at 15 ft, you could pretty much use some wire coat hangars
strung together. lol.
It's been a very interesting discussion - Thanks all!

What I'm using is actually fire alarm cable. It's 14 or 16 gauge solid
copper wire with Teflon insulation, in a twisted pair with polyethylene
or Teflon outer sleeve. It was labeled as New York City fire alarm
cable, but since then it seems that NYC has slackened their
specifications. That

I found Canare cable a few years ago. They make very nice microphone
cable that makes dandy interconnects. Their RCA jacks are also very
good and cheap. They have speaker wire as well. Good quality cable
with some science to back it up. Pro not high end but very good.

I second the Canare recommendation, excellent cable. I use star-quad as
interconnects.
Sheldon: nice to see you on these boards. I've corresponded with you
many years ago in the rec.audio.tubes newsgroup. Looking forward to
your posts!

Anti-cable looks great.
I have the anti-cables in my system. They sound fine, but my only
complaint is that they -don't- look great.
The wire has a degree of stiffness that's a little more malleable than
coathanger wire. Once they get bent around a little, they actually

Replacing THX certified Monster Cable. Don't know the exact spec but I
needed longer cables and wanted to bi-wire my Magnepan 3.5Rs.I
replaced every cable in my system with items from bluejeanscable.com
I forgot to mention that as usual, your mileage may vary. Obviously
the HD didn't work out for you. I am sure expensive cables would sound
much better, but IMHO, for the price you can't beat them.

Very nice sounding in my system. I had tried fat braided copper

I've also been considering the speltz anti-cable, and also the Guerilla
cable and Signal Ultra for a bedroom system. The anti-cable fits your
budget and the signal is pretty close, the guerilla a bit more.

I have had some Nordost stuff, QED Silver Annivery, VDH Clearwater and

I was considering the anti-cables but I have longer runs which made them
cost prohibitive. I just purchased from bluejeanscable.com and am happy
with the value/price for my needs. They just arrived today so can't
comment on how they sound yet.
