By the way, by "coherence" I took the previous poster to be referring to
dCS's position on the importance of USB and computer audio. It is still
unclear to me, for example, whether the USB interface itself offers
audio performance that is superior to SPDIF with a synced word clock or
merely offers
Point taken. Like Apple we will have to change.
But like Apple the team is still in place and the knowledge is still
there to drive new product development.

Guys
I'm not sure how Blackstone's post was relevant to the thread. dCS has
a fully functioning 'Contact Us' facility on their website so rather
than make assumptions about dCS just use it.
If you had no response to a query from dCS or worse an incoheherent
response then go ahead and post away

Fair point. I'm sure more than a few of us know what that is like.

I see no stones being thrown - except by you. If I were you I'd rethink
that unwarranted attack on a customer who has probably spent thousands

eh? That's a bit off the mark methinks.

You can expect a lot of coherence from dCS!
The company has been at the forefront of digital audio for 21 years and
will remain so because of the talented people we have in the company and
this collective experience. Having been Head of Marketing at dCS for
over 1 year now I can say t

Unfortunately I'm not sure how much coherence you can expect from dCS

Blackstone - will the dCS Scarlatti upsampler work with your DAC? It has
an asynchronous USB mode which could give you a way of getting music
from your pc to your hifi.

1&2 : the sonic improvments depend on the suplly of the digital part of
your system. The better is the supply the less noticeable is the
wordclock. For me the use of a symetric supply for the transporte, the
DAC and the wordclock reduced the benefit of the wordclock

Well, in a clock-linked configuration I would expect the jitter to be
determined by the clock in your DAC - so what are those specs?
(the cable that transmits the clock from DAC to TP is also part of the
equation... but since this can be implemented using properly suitable
coax and BNC connectors
The specs for the Transporter include the following:
Jitter (standard deviation):
11ps at oscillator (intrinsic jitter)
17ps at DAC
35ps at S/PDIF receiver
I am wondering how slaving the Transporter to the dCS combo would
theoretically affect those numbers?

Correct, this is the purpose a word clock. It eliminates jitter that
would otherwise be introduced by an s/pdif interface.

I am currently using a Logitech Squeezebox's digital coax output to feed
a dCS Delius/Purcell combo 44.1 uncompressed files. I am considering an
upgrade to the Transporter (for use as a transport).
Setting aside the other reasons for using a Transporter over a
Squeezebox for a moment, I would li
