Mike, would you mind expanding on that please, this is not a loaded
question, I would just like to know.
Thank you

So I am assuming the problem only occurs due to incorrect assembly and
not during operation after a correct assembly.

Maybe some one might enlighten all on the Benalla incident/accident a few
years ago, when a Hornet was involved in a crossed control take off and
subsequent crash. Were not all involved senior instructors etc?

Yes, nothing wrong with it after assembly except it may be working backwards.
However the one I saw in NZ obviously
That would be correct,

Yeah and Hornet ailerons can be installed upside down on the wrong wings as

but still serious. Crossed Blanik rudder cables can also put some excitement
into peoples lives too.
Be vigilant out there.

You are right John, but I was talking about a story in soaring magazine,
(the USA one) some years ago and the story of an incident with the cables
crossed twice. Same result. Usually with anything like this the mistake is
noticed close to the ground and whilst the gliders are usually damaged

I have received reports of 7 instances from instructors and pilots alike. Not a
huge number, but then this may indicate that this is a quite isolated problem.
My experience were similar to others and also similar to the situations

level 3 instructor had taught me to always keep your hand between the
stick and the stop, so when this happened the stick hit my hand instead
of the front stop.
The other time I do this is during the early stages of winch
