I'm sorry Nigel but it's not superior at all, it's downright dangerous. The
adoption of UAT in the USA is a mistake. With UAT based ADS-B, you are
invisible to commercial aircraft! TCAS is unable to see UAT. So Qantas Link,
Rex, the RFDS etc can't see you. ATC can but that is of minimal use

Take that shotgun off your hip Erich, before you have someone's eye out! :P
It seems you're confusing ADS-B Out with PowerFLARM and its
capabilities/requirements.
You've also claimed 'range ring' only for ADS-B equipped traffic and that's
just not true.
With a PowerFLARM, you will see relative

On the map/nav screen, tap the toolbox icon (third from the right of the upper
menu on the bottom of the screen) to get the 'info screens' menu. Third from
the bottom is 'radar overlay'. The last time I used it, it was out by 40min.

OzRunways DOES do this too, check your settings. Agree about the licensing
though. ForeFlight (US equivalent) allows multiple iPads access at no
surcharge; great for redundancy.

And the dichotomous ironies continue….
Justification for self-regulation/administration and lowered medical standards
for gliders have been won using the low mass, low speed and low passenger

Perversely, suggest that a glider pilot should be able to be responsible for

Hi Matthew,
Another confirmation for George's flight being done on the ridges of
Pennsylvania. He broke four Australian records with that flight and earned the

It seems there is a bit of cherry picking going on here, using isolated parts
of accident reports to justify positions/arguments. An accident is far more
complicated than any one factor/cause.

Paul,
There is no such exemption for sport aviation. The only exemptions are for
RFDS and emergency services personal. The requirement for an ASIC has nothing
to do with the category or class of operation nor sporting body or licence
type. If you want to access a secure area of a security co

Ok, I've sat by and watched the sense of entitlement and GFA bashing long
enough.
As Tim playfully pointed out, it's the F in GFA. The state bodies are entitled
to set & enforce their own rules. Would national harmonization be nice? Sure!
