[AZORES-Genealogy] Creating An Index for the Records

Hi everyone, When going through the records, I can't help but think (as I'm sure everyone else must) that it would be great if there was an index available. I've also thought, at times, that creating one might not be so difficult, as it would be relatively painless as I pass the records that

Hi Jesse, Film that comes from FamilySearch/LDS/Mormons/FHC has a stamp on it now. I don't recall the exact words, but something along the lines of personal use only. In order for them to film, they have a contact with the government. I think the contract says something about personal use only,

Thanks for the reply, John. Lomba seems to be crawling with Mendonca's, which is the line I am tracing. I noticed that the records don't go back very far there, so I am not surprised that there might have been a fire. In the book I was referring to in the original post, it seems like maybe t

I suspect that almost all of us index, as that is really the only way to add siblings, etc. to our family trees, and if you go back far enough, everyone is related to everyone anyway. You are right Jesse, it is a huge waste of time for all of us to do it, as opposed to sharing. In the era whe

I am a bit skeptical of the quality of indexing done by organizations. Whether they are paid or volunteers getting just a single letter wrong will render it useless to a searcher. Just think of some of the US Census indexes. My general impression is that with Family search you search a name and all
