Hi Tyler,
Tell me more about how to open your attachment. My computer isn't recognizing
the format.
Thanks,

I would think if you want to know anything about the Sousa family in

Hi All.
I am looking for any information on Thome de Sousa (b. about 1735) and
Victoria de Santo Andre from Sao Miguel. Most likely Vila Franca do Campo or
Ribeira Grande.
Their son Jose Antonio de Sousa married Dona Joanna Baptista do Rego Baldaia

I've seen some food related posts on here in the past so this may be of
some interest to those in this group. In the linked news article below,
there is a reference to a facebook page for Azorean Cooking and she sells a
book also for those interested.
Tyler S,
Every genealogy program out there as their own format that you save. You
do your work on your tree (apparently in Family Tree Builder), hit File -
Save and it saves it as a .uzed. Those using Family Tree Maker hit File -
Save and I think it saves as .ftm Mine get saved as .pjc.

they seem to all be there up

Cheri,
Thanks so much for clarifying how this works. I don't have any connection
to a genealogy program yet, but I regularly read the correspondence from
within the group, and this was the first time I had seen SOUSA mentioned,
so I wanted to look
Fred S,
You can get a stand alone genealogy software program that you install on
your own computer, or you can do one in the cloud, such has housing your
tree on Ancestry.com or Geni.com or any thing similar.
I'm pretty sure Sousa (or the older spelling Souza) are one of the top 5
Portuguese
To Fred,
You're not the only one having problems on the Souzas' side, I am too. I'm
just waiting for George Pacheco when he is able to, to help me find where my
great grandparents came from. All I know is San Miguel nothing else.
And thank you Cheri for all you do!
Gail E.
Gail E,
You tested your DNA, so you know more than you think.
Don't know which one of your lines yet, but your DNA is dancing around a
group of us with Vila Franca ancestry. So at least one of your lines comes
from there.
P.S. You may want to double check your genealogy program to be sure you

Lajes - on Pico (Lajes do Pico)
Lajes - on Flores (Lajes das Flores)
I've never seen the Lajes on Terceira written as Lajes da Terceira, but
perhaps people researching it should write it that way or state that it's
the Lajes on Terceira.

Aloha Cheri,
Sorry Cheri my misspelling it should be Sao Miguel in the Azores. I did
find quite a bit more info since I posted my tree. Just need to find the
time to put it in. My biggest set back on the Souza side is I can't find
him in any of the ship lists nor my great grandmother. This

I looked at your Gedcom through FTDNA and I don't know if the info is

Hi Gail,
Yeah, I'll wait for you to get organized more. Maria was born in 1872 and
her dad was born in 1884! Well, that doesn't work :)

Tyler,
Oscar is a very unusal name for a Portuguese. I would go to the CCA Website,
www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt/ig, and go to each village and check the
baptisms for 1900 for an Oscar son of Francisco. There are not that many
village in Sao Jorge to check out.

Sorry about that Cheri, I was looking at the wrong line. The actual name is
John DeSilva Barboza born 06/22/1847 and died 01/11/1931.
