I have the same situation. Born 1901 went back to Terceira before coming to
America in 1911. I also have them on a ship's passenger list. Also would
there be records of them leaving Brazil. Where are those records located.
Kathy are you going to the conference? Maybe we can work together on this?
Quite ambiguous, I would say however the the corrente that he is redering to
is actually in 1962 seeing that he mentions the 8th above and repeats it as the
8th of March below. Also he does not mention January in the side bar.

One thing I did not address is that when some of our ancestors immigrated their
last name incorporated the “de, da, do, dos” So the descendants of Manuel de
Sousa and his cousin Joao da Costa became known as Manuel Desousa (or DeSousa)
and Joao Dacosta (or DaCosta)and these were the names used
