Rosemarie, Thanks! I have since tied it all together. I found Manuel Melo Castanho's baptismal record. He was born 22 Mar 1904, Maia. The notes in the side margin name his wife, Maria da Gloria Moniz da Costa. They were married in 1931. Now I have the proof that it all fits together! Mel

Joanne, in this case the "Dom" you are reading is a honorary title for the Bishop, who exempted the couple for the 6th degree of consanguinity, allowing them to marry. Antonio Calvo could be picking it up from one of the grandparents, you may find continuity as you go back further on this line. E

I'm actually a bit confused on who's who, based on the replies to my original message. CITCEM shows Mateus Garcia Rosa as having two daughters: Margarida Garcia b. 1688; and Madalena b. 1693. Madelena's Obito in CCA says she was married to Antonio Costa Soares, but this disagrees with CITCEM

I think I'll go for Emilia on the LOWER Left, correct? You've got most of it right. I don't know why there's the scribble scrabble with her birth, but I believe it means born on 3 May 1837 and baptized on the 7 of the same month and year was baptized in this reference parish by me the Vicar Vig.ro
