hello everyone. I am checking to see if there is records some where else the Island of Sao Miguel, village of Calheta before the 1600's' I just found out that my Camacho line came from the Island of Sao Miguel they emigrated to Madeira around the earlier 1600's. So I am looking for records

Eric S, Since I can see your DNA page with your match, I'll use the FTDNA numbers. Your match may be something like a 3C2R or maybe further. There's not good data out there for 4th, 5th, etc cousins. Maybe more people submitted their cMs for Blaine Bettinger's study and maybe he'll be able to

Judy, That's the thing. The whole intermarriage/endogamy thing messed things up. 74 cMs would be just one cousin, and it wouldn't be a 6th cousin in a regular population. A 6th cousin in a regular population shares 9 cM on average and the range for a 6th cousin goes up to 21 cMs, not 74cMs!!!

Thx for the responses. I will be contacting you Cheri re situations like the one below once I am sure all the links have been found. I have one match that shows as 2nd-4th cousins with 74 cms in common and we found 9! different links so far, closest is 6th cousin and I believe more than one
