-8<-
nice\ -n\ 19\ sudo\ /usr/bin/rsync\ --server*)
exec $SSH_ORIGINAL_COMMAND

Hi list,
I now use BackupPc for more than a year without any problem;
however, I installed a new machine (4 GB to backup) and even
if BackupPC gives me the same readings (Full = 4.1GB), it
takes hours to backup.
I've got another machine with 13 GB to
Definately give Ubuntu a try. As Carl mentioned, it's basically
Debian but with a quicker release cycle. I used to sware by Debian,
but I'm quickly changing my tune. I'm running both a Ubuntu Desktop
at home and a remote server and haven't had any issues. The fact that
it has more up-to-date pac

Debian is the only way to go. :) Fastest install, easiest upgrades, least
hassle. the amd64 version is still pretty new; but the 32-bit version is

Hey everyone,
I
am currently in the process of rebuilding my backuppc machine to give it
some extra grunt. I was hoping to get peoples thoughts on what linux distros
are in use out there and who recommends what? The new platform will be

In which "AdiOltean" (who works for MS, apparently) presents a simple

Hi, My client has 200gb of data and resulted from the first full backup was around the same size on the server. However, after the the first incremental , df -h shows it's 217gb now. I couldn't do a du -csh coz there are 10,000,000 files and du would take forever.
(I've tried, it ran for 40 mins a

Just dont confuse RAID with a 'real' backup
My request was not forwarded to the list so i have removed the program

Thank you Maarten, I was thinking to use the ReadyNas as the storage so it has RAID 1 already. http://luminous-landscape.com/reviews/accessories/readynas600.shtml

I am not sure if anyone has tried using backuppc on a file system like this. I have 200GB of data roughly 10,000,000 files. Backup has no problem but it's taking too long. It takes about 20 mins to just receive the file list, after that the HD goes crazy for about 90 mins
