Hi Mark,
FYI, the reason why i need to upgrade my backuppc is the configuration little
bit harder than newer version,
Before, i've installed backuppc into my GGibbon box, and it come with version
3.x.x if i 'm not wrong.
It's easily to configure hosts that will be backup. Okey, untill now, what
I'd also like to know what's involved in doing this.

Check your file system and OS settings. Ext3 should be good, but if CentOS
is
configured for small systems it could be tweaked so that there is a limit
like 32k hard
links maximum, or a file size maximum. Again I have not found Ext2 or 3 to
have this issue.
I did run into this (or at least simi
The server being backed up is running FreeBSD 6.2. The backup server is
running CentOS.
As for the directory being backed up, it has a ton of subdirectories and
files, it is a hashed structure. Just still has 40K+ files and
directories per.

mkdir() is failing. It appears that certain file systems have a limit

Hi, I've installed BackupPC 3.0.0 on a CentOS 4 machine. BackupPC works just
fine up to a point. I have been able to backup severs when only one backup
is going on a time. But when I have 4 or more backups going the server
starts to go VERY slow and I can't even access BackupPC's cgi interface.

Hello,
I'm running BackupPC 3.0.0 on CentOS 4, with ext3 file systems. When
trying to backup one of our servers, BackupPC logs the below error:
Too many links at /backuppc/bin/BackupPC_tarExtract line 320
After a while, the backup process gets aborted.
Any ideas on what might be causing the er
Hi all,
I've already install backuppc on my ubuntu 6.06 LTS Dapper Drake. After
googling, i found that ubuntu 6.06 LTS comes with backuppc version
2.1.2-2ubuntu5 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/dapper/+source/backuppc.
I just want to upgrade it to version 3.0.0 or newer.
Any suggestion, how to inst
I am looking to use BackupPC in an environment with several roaming
laptops and a wad of disk on a hosting site.
You might try hosting BackupPC on a host that allows you to use a set
amount of RAM and CPU, like http://www.slicehost.com
Are you using the SMB transfer method? There was a bug a while back

The bug has been since patched, but I ended
Personaly, I use the Exmerge method. Generally it works great - but
fails horribly for PST files > 2GB.
Is there a workaround?

I have some information for everyone on using rsync for remote backuppc
mirroring.
I have tested this after reading it on an rsync mailing list.
rsync uses roughls 100B per file to be synced so you can do the math to
determine the amount of memory necessary to transfer your fileset.

I too would find a single admin interface helpful. I'm running 4, soon
to be 5 BackupPC servers. They're at different locations, so a single
pool is out of the question, but I would love to be able to take a
look at all my backups without having to log into 4 different front
ends.

Bonjour,
Il n'est pas très judicieux de ne faire que des incrementales (incr) car
des incr se basent sur des full pour ne sauvegarder que la différence.
Cependant, tu peux régler l'intervalle de tes full via l'interface web.
