Hello all,
I would like to install BackupPC (110 pc) + Nagios (40 hosts) + Cacti on
just one server.
Have you got an idea about configuration of this server (CPU, RAM, DISK,
...) ?
It's for a company (it's not for personal usage).
Thanks a lot for your help.
Have a nice day.

You would need to determine how often you want to run the backup. Hourly?
Daily? Weekly?
How much you want to backup? Are there lots of similar files?
I run backuppc for 40 hosts on a P4 3.2Ghz with 512MB RAM, 100Mbit network and
80GB HDD. Performance is reasonable.
Mostly weekly backups. I
First, thanks for your help.
I would like to do backups daily for incr backups and weekly for full
backups.
I think that there will be 150 or 200 Go (total). And no, there aren't the
same files, or just a little bit.
So If I want to run in the same time, BackupPC +Nagios + Cacti, do you
think
I think those are good specs. Do you mean RAID 1? That is effectively 250GB.
You might want to add more HDD as harddisks
are cheap and save the hassle of adding them later. Also consider quality raid
controllers and Gigabit networks.

Hi,
I have just installed BackuPC 3.1.0-1 rpm on Centos 5
I do not see the config options (Which are all there on my 3.0 versions of
backupc) under the Server section of the web interface.
The only options I have are:

Sourceforge.

Last night backuppc was a hero.
We had a dell sata raid card drop an array, just 'cause :P
anyway it was 11pm night last night restoring from backuppc (which

Yes, it will be a Raid 1 minimum. It will be an IBM server an raid

I found spec. of IBM server and it may will be an Intel Xeon.
Anybody can help me about the choice of Ram ? 2 or 4 Go ?
I'd always go with as

It doesn't really matter what the specs of your box are, putting a
monitoring solution on the same box as a production server is a bad idea.
What happens when that box fails? What's going to notify you? Nagios won't,
since it'll be down, too.
I'm not sure about
Hi all.
I'm new to the list, but i have a very important question.
I've set up a backup server with backuppc and till yesterday was woring

I see what you're saying. Put big disks in the older hardware.
I would actually say that you're better off using the more powerful hardware
