I've been using BackupPC for 5+ years and think it is amazing.
I'd like to burn my backups to optical for long term storage but don't
want to use tar slices, as they make recovery of individual files
tricky.
Instead I'm thinking of using DAR (http://dar.linux.free.fr) on the
PC's sub
In my experience, migrating/syncing the cpool/pool/pc folder using rsync
(hard links in tact) isn't a practical exercise (but is technically
possible).
The size of your cpool/pool/pc data set will have exponential
implications on the time required to sync (even if no data changes hands).

I have several mysql serv on linux based OS. Now I have to backup a Windows
mysql based system. On Linux I have use a script that do a dump everyday
etc...
But, On windows I have no Idea of how to handle this.
Anyone here can point me out the right direction.

I have 2 servers running BackupPC.
In both servers some clients can`t do backup, the error is: idle
(fileListReceive failed).
BackupPC can do login on the client, and the process starts correctly,
but at some time with strace i can see this:
munmap(0xbf42c000, 4096)
I've added the backuppc user to the tape group and i've changed
permissions on /dev/st0 (chmod g+w /dev/st0) but archiver don't work.

I have seen some problem with the LVM. If the lvm is mounted and the server
lost power, big risk to get all image corrupt. I have not tested it but read
it. This can be a solution also.

Hey, I am currently using BackupPC at home as a test of it's ability, and I
noticed one thing - if the server is ever down, will the computer know it
has backups that should have run during the down time, and then run the
missed backups?

check 2 GB of memory unless it hits an error early on. Scheduling the

package fixed the problem.
Yes, I would love to upgrade those boxes, but the client does not want
to pay for the hours and / or hardware to do that.

Since I have Cygwin installed, I just went to that directory within
Cygwin and "chmod ugo+r rsyncd.conf" and that fixed the problems.
