I have this problem and some others.
For exemple, I use to do Grep searches a lot
and now if I double click to select text
and then Command-E (Use Selection for Find)
I lose the Grep option !
and have to cheched

Just in case it's not clear, I still think BBEfit is THE best text
editor out there. It's my love of a great product that makes me such a
harsh critic.
Also, I think the fact that they retained they old dialog demonstrates
that the issue is more complicated than simply "the new way is
bet

Nothing. "Start at Top" is still available in the old-style modal Find
interface.
If you prefer the old-style interface, it is still available. You can
enable it by checking "Use modal Find dialog" in the "Text Search"
