If the artist and albumartist field are different, SC delivers
erroneous
anchors to the skin. This has the following effects:
In the iPeng skin, which shows the anchors, there are additional
anchors shown
(as headings).
In ALL skins clicking a link on the alphabet bar for
I think ALBUMARTIST isn't even a standard tag, but an iTunes thing.
Not an iTunes thing - they use BAND I believe. iTunes is particularly poor in
that if you do have an album artist or band tag, it doesn't display it as the
artist in the artist list.
ALBUMARTIST is imho mapped to BAND, as does

I am having trouble (on two different WinXP machines) getting MusicIP to
communicate with SC7. In the past this has been due to Slimserver
starting before MIP. So, I have stopped Slimserver, started MIP and
restarted Slimserver.

I found Component Manager. Is it possible to run SqueezeCenter the way
it was in version 6.x, controlling it from SlimTray? I know this isn't
a Windows forum, but after reading about running SC as application vs
service I'm not any wiser.

mainstream players like WinAmp, MusicMatch, MediaSource etc.

I checked
I checked it but the player screensaver is set to 'Date and time
screensaver'. In the player section there is no option to change the
time format though.

Winamp will save a file with paths relative to where the file is saved
iirc.
Slimserver needs the file to have a full absolute path ot each MP3
file.
So your playlist needs to look something like this

The existing installation was slimserver 6.5b1, and I had a problem with
installing the squeezecenter rpm because of a missing mysql dependency.
The answer was to upgrade the mysql server to 5.0 from 4.1 (which was
the latest version in the default repos) by:-

well somewhere else, like Music Library (Erland's dynamic playlists) or
Internet Radio (PublicRadioFan), etc should (to use RFC parlance) put
their menus in the logical place, and those that don't fit in well into
those groups
To further confuse/elucidate, the little software programs we write
that add functions to the Squeezebox Controller (nee Jive) are called
Applets.
Applets can add Extras, but also can do much much more...

The experimental library is all MP3s tagged by Windows Media Player and
all the tracks have Album Artist set; some have multiple primary
Artists.
What kind of WMAs are they?
If they are purchased tracks with DRM they will not show becasue they
are unplayable by SlimServer.

TXXX means no standard tag. It's whatever you want to call it. Create a
MYVERYOWNTAG and it will be stored in TXXX.

I am running the latest SqueezeCenter 7.0 (14-1-08). Same problem in
earlier build as well.
I have album arts in the music directory of each album. (one album one
directory). In each directory, I have cover.jpg for the album. For
directories with English names, the cover art is displayed

For albums. You never want to see all the artists listed in the
by-line for an album. You don't want to see 'The Time-Life Treasury of
Christmas' by 30 different artists. Nor do you want to see the
Santana album 'Supernatural' by 9 different artists.
