NAS users may be considered power users at the moment, but that would
change if there was a push to recoment NAS boxes for SS in the future.
After all, there is also the -noweb switch, making SS a lot lighter and
less resource hungry.

architecture just can't handle what people want to do with it now. And
lots of new features keep breaking existing code. There is a discussion
just now about where to stop support of the old codebase and stop
releasing 1.0.x updates and just
doubt it will become much more comfortable than this, I'm sorry :-)

Thats because 7.0.1 isn't a Beta or Pre-release, it is a previous
official release.
If you go to http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/ you will see all the
previous official releases all the way back to 3.1b1 :)

Yo don't need the zip file, that is the Perl source, just stick to the
installr .exe.
In SqueezeCenter, go to Server Settings in the bottom right hand
corner, then the Status tab, and it will tell you all the different
version numbers for your installation.
