I have found out that some of the citations exported from Nature were not
recognizable by BibDesk. I typically manually typed in the data, but for the
following particular one:
http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v417/n6890/abs/nature00791.html
the number of authors discouraged me to do so. I fi

I recently purchased an imac for my home so I can leave my macbook in
my office and don't have to haul it back and forth between my home and
my office. I managed to have most crucial programs to be installed on
this new imac, but am now puzzling over what I should do to make the

I understand that autocompletion is not available for OS 10.5 and
greater. Just curious, is there any other efficient way to get
citation information without switching back and forthe between the
windows? I am using TeXShop and have to constantly switch to the
BibDesk window to find my reference an

Thanks, Adam. I will remember that. [I only knew double-click a file

I normally download .ris files from prola.aps.org. Sometimes when the
author field (and other field) contains characters such as \`e,
BibDesk refuses to open the file and gives me a warning about the
coding instead.
If I copy and paste to BibDesk (or other equivalent alternatives),
then I could ma

I downloaded the latest version v. 1.3.16 to replace v. 1.3.14 just
now. Every time I opened the program, a warning message popped up,
saying

This might be a very minor issue: when pressing the "apple key + esc"
combination, a selection window pops up. However, the selection window
blocks some text of the publication data in the editor window, and
there are rare situations that this causes a problem. For example,
when there are several p

That's the first time I've ever encountered such thing ... :-)

Adam,
Just now I was writing a manuscript using TeXShop. After pressing Apple+Esc
keys, BibDesk was invoked. Out of curiosity, I checked the version number,
and it says "Version 1.3.4 (v731)". That's very strange, since I have only
the latest version, 1.3.10 (v865), installed in my computer. Searc

I downloaded Safari 3.03 (Beta) yesterday, and found out that now I almost
couldn't highlight and drag the bibtex data to Bibdesk as I used to -- the
data could still be highlighted, but when I was trying to drag to Bibdesk,
most often than not, the highlight region simply got de-highlighted. [I th

For APS journals (e.g. Physical Review family), I usually have the
LaTeX bib data for a paper displayed by the web browser (Safari), then
highlight the whole block and drag and release to an empty
"Publication" entry in BibDesk.
Sometimes, however, there were some data simply refused to be dragged
Adam,
Thanks a lot. I commented out the format.url output and format.eprint
output, and now the reference list has a cleaner look. That's done in
a couple of minutes' work and done beautifully. :-)
Andrew,
Since we only cut and paste the bib output in the .bbl file, I think
that should be fine.

Hi,
I am writing a long paper with about 60+ cited reference. There are
some fields showing up in the compiled article which I would like to
have them removed. Can this be done *within* BibDesk, rather than from
the style file?
Specifically, I am writing a paper for a journal using revtex4 style
method is very convenient.
Thanks!

I was wondering if there's a quick way to locate the physical copy of

to email a copy of paper(s) to other people. Presently, I have to
