Late this afternoon there were two Brant along the shoreline east of Bronte
Harbour. The Brant were feeding in the water with Canada Geese, Mallards,
Gadwall and American Wigeon.
A very distant jaeger sp. was seen offshore.
There are still several Red-necked Grebes around but none were identifiab
On my way to hockey this morning I observed 30+ female/juvenile
Red-breasted Mergansers and 3 female Hooded Mergansers at the McKenzie
Marsh in north Aurora.
On the way back from the rink at about 11:00 a.m., I stopped to look at
an undulating flock of between 50-60 passerines that were actively

I have just returned from a trip to Manitoulin Island.Birds seen from Oct.
11th to the 16th. are as follows.
Sandhill Cranes-500+,Turkey Vultures100+,Northern Harrier-12,Palm
Warbler-5,Yellow-Rumped Warbler-10,Eastern Phoebe-3,Brown
Creeper,Golden-Crowned Kinglets,Fox Sparrows,Blue Jays,Common

Over a period of 6 hours on Oct.19 3 stalwards counted 776 migrating raptors
at the Iroquois Shoreline Raptor Watch, located just west of Brooklin, Ont.,
south of highway 7, at the east end of Heber Down CA.
Graham Nord, Mike Williamson and Mike Boudreau observed the following
westward -bound hawks
Hello Ontbirders:
A Northern Shrike was observed at the Old Airfield (south from km 30.6 on
Highway 60) on Saturday. A few Lapland Longspurs, Snow Buntings and Evening
Grosbeaks were noted along the highway, as well.
Today (Sunday), Doug Tozer reported: a light morph Rough-legged Hawk at
Ringnec
At 2PM Sunday, Oct.19th, three SANDHILL CRANES were seen foraging in a
recently plowed field along Washburn Road near Sundbury, Ontario. These
birds arrived here on Saturday, Oct. 18, according to a local landowner.

to point out that 3 stalwards covered the Iroquois Shoreline RW in the east
end of Heber Down CA on Oct.19--- through 6 hours they had over 500
migrating hawks, including many Red-shouldereds, Red-tailed and TVs, AND 6

Hello Fellow Birders,
This morning at 1005 hours on the corner of Highways # 401 & 115/35 I
sighted 2 Kettles of 25 Turkey Vultures. 4 Purple Finches have been feeding
at the feeder, 1 Red Breasted Nuthatch & 2 White Breasted Nuthatches, many
Juncos, Black Capped Chickadees, White Crowned & White
On my way to Richmond Hill (old-timer's hockey) this morning I observed

At Prince Edward Point, NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL banding continues with 176
banded during this past week. A SCREECH OWL was caught last night. A
CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was banded on the 12th, and on the 13th a

many songbirds have "checked in" near our viewing platform during the past
week.
