Brenda Carter and I saw a total of three Western Sandpipers at Owen Point
today. The birds were seen among the various 'peeps' coming and going at the
tip between 11am and 4pm. One of the Westerns was the relatively conspicuous,
long-billed, bright scapulared individual that was also seen by
Not much shorebird habitat left at the Harrow sewage lagoons. They have lined
most of the lagoons with rock, and water levels are high in all ponds. There is
also a new gate and fence with no trespassing signs (which I heeded only as a
suggestion).
The only shorebirds were in the 3rd pond

Turkey Vulture
While working or way off Tommy Thompson park (aka Lesley st. spit)
this after noon at 2:30 Bev and I watched a Juv. N Gannet flying along
with the strong east winds , it was last seen flying south out along the
east side of the spit .

The Cranberry Marsh Raptor Watch in southwest Whitby, ON, has been in
operation since 1990. This year we started up on Aug.14; we try to cover the
platform every day through to Nov.30, particularly in the AM hours.

Hello Ontbirds people,
Today (Sept. 5) a juvenile SABINE'S GULL was seen briefly between 12:25 -
12:35 PM, at the large pond on the east side of Moodie Dr. south of the
Bells Corners area in Ottawa, south of the Trail Rd. Landfill. This is
likely the 1st record in Ottawa in over 2 decades. The
