Hi Everyone
First and foremost I'd like to thank Burke Korol for finding the
Thick-billed Murre and getting the word out. I was birding along the
Ottawa River when the news hit. I headed straight to Cobden followed by
Tate and company. Fortunately the murre was still present and we had good

Hi Everyone
Today, November 25 I spent most of the morning birding Lake
Deschenes-Ottawa River. It was a great morning and I observed 226
Red-throated Loons (counted them all!) in 4-5 flocks with a few singles
too. At first the loons were resting but as the weather started to clear, a

On several sweeps I have tallied just over 100 Red-throated Loons, all
visible in open waters to the N and E of Dick Bell Park. An amazing
spectacle, especially once this mist lifts (as it should mid-morning
tomorrow).

Hi there
Currently viewing a distant raft of 35-40 Red-throated Loons with some
scattered individuals in closer to my viewing position. I am scanning the
river from just W of the lighthouse at Dick Bell Park. Scope is required
for best viewing. Earlier today an observer tallied a morning flight

Burke called again to say he just had better looks and it's a probable

Just received a call from Burke Korol who is looking at an alcid on Muskrat
Lake in Cobden. He's at the public boat launch at corner of Main and
Bonnechere. Cobden is on Highway 17, east of Ottawa about 30 minutes from
Pembroke. He thinks it's a murre, maybe Common, definitely an alcid. He's
