I have never seen pine grosbeaks and redwinged blackbirds at the same time
and yet the redwings have arrived and have established themselves at the
hilliardton marsh. This is an early record for us. . Happy spring birding
Wanted to mention last Thursday a common redpoll was banded at the
Hilliardton marsh and Friday a large flock of snow buntings was seen by the
marsh. The marsh is located north of NewLiskeard which is about 5 hours
north of Toronto. Today a flock of about 50 pine siskins was seen in New
Liskeard.
to my knowledge there have been no owls seen in the NewLiskeard area which
is quite interesting that the movement has by passed us for the moment
especially when we had so many northern saw whets this year. condolenses for
our lack of great greys would be appreciated but not necessary

Greetings cbc'ers we did our count on Saturday very overcast day but there
were lots of birds on the wing . Spectacular numbers of bohemian waxwings
lead the way as well as two great grey owls and a hawk owl. Another huge
highlight for us are the 5 glaucous gulls that are making a name for
themselv
greetings thought I would let people know of a few birds of interest in our
area. The towhee is busy at a feeder near Kirkland lake the cardinal is
close to Thornloe and the 2 redwing blackbirds are at the hilliardton marsh
and the flicker is in newliskeard. if anyone is interested please contact m
Nyger or black oil would be best as there are not many birds around that
would benefit from the mixed seed

Ok so it isn't the spring migration but we do have a couple of over
wintering male redwinged blackbirds at the Hilliardton marsh very very
unusual for us. 9 weeks until the rest of the flock comes back. the
hilliardton marsh is 15 km from NewLiskeard Ontario
finches or crossbills in our area and I have not had any recent
reports of waxwings despite abundant fruit on crabs and mountain ash trees.
Happy birding

birders . Sincerely bruce Murphy thaks to Glenn reed and chris Sukha foir their

banding are young of this year
Greetings birders thought I would chime in with an update form the north. We
