Flock of over 100 Bohemian Waxwings just north of the Guelph Arboretum. On
Stone Rd just north of Victoria feeding on Junipers and roosting in deciduous

A lone Brant on the Lake Ontario shore east of Beamsville. Take Ontario Street
Beamsville exit to the north service road and travel east. Go north on Tufford
Road turn left on Lakeside Drive to the end. Bird can be seen just west of 4520

through our backyard with up to six males and females at any one time. We

arrived in our backyard and ensconce themselves on our niger feeder. This
allowed plenty of time for positive identifications.

It stayed long enough for a positive identification before flying off. Our

Late Friday afternoon my wife and I simultaneously spotted male
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds in the separate sections of the garden in which
we were working. The garden backs on to Dunegan Park in Cobourg's southeast
section and can be reached by driving south on D'Arcy Street.

We've had six White-crowned Sparrows appear in our backyard since 5:00 PM
and as a bonus a Yellow-rumped Warbler, the first warbler of the year. The

Cobourg's harbour about mid-morning today (Saturday). The harbour can be

Sewage Lagoon this past few days. Probably hiding from the hunters in

Since my first posting about the Common Redpolls in our backyard, it's be
pretty quiet. All that changed this morning. From 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM
there was a a flock of 20 Common and Hoary Redpolls continually at the niger
and sunflower seed feeders in our backyard. The backyard faces onto Dunegan
then right up Mountain
Street to Fly Road, turn left, pass 2 sideroads, turn rt. on Dutch Lane. Check
the fencelines, particularly to the right (west) along the next 3 fields. Good

the pond southwest of the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station. The pond
can be reached by Solina Rd. which runs south from the south service road of
the 401. Solina Rd. is between Interchanges 425 and 431. Park in the
Two Killdeers and a Spotted Sandpiper were observed this morning on the
shore at the bottom of D'Arcy St. in Cobourg. D'Arcy St. is the first major

This morning, Friday the 19th, there was a male Harlequin Duck just inside
the entrance to Cobourg harbour. The harbour can be reached by leaving the
401 at interchange 474 and travelling south on Division St. to the pier

This is a belated report of a trip to Amherst Island last Thursday, the 7th.
Gary Little and I birded the island and found Long-eared, Short-eared,
Boreal and Northern Saw-whet Owls in the 'Owl woods'. A Snowy Owl was

This morning (Sunday) there was a mature Snowy Owl hunting on the west side
of the Newtonville Road about 0.5 kM south of the 401. The Newtonville Road
interchange is 448.

This morning a pair of Orange-crowned Warblers were seen in the shrubbery on
the east side of Dunegan Park in Cobourg. The park is at the bottom of
D'Arcy St. in the east end of Cobourg.

Starting on Saturday morning and continuing through Sunday, there has been
small groups of White-throated Sparrows travelling through the small trees
and shrubbery on the east side of Donegan Park which is located in the east
end of Cobourg at the foot of D'Arcy Street.
