The winds have sped up and the birds have slowed down. A Hooded Warbler was
seen on Spicebush. A Wilson’s Warbler was found at the Pony Barn. A few
Blue-winged Warblers have been seen this afternoon with one at Tulip Tree,

With the warmer temperatures over the past few days, we saw the first big push
of warblers and other passerine species.
Our morning hike on the Maintenance Loop Trail had a total of 50 species
including many spring

There are decent numbers of birds around the park today, with some
interesting species seen, as well as good numbers of some late migrants
like Mourning and Canada Warblers.

arrivals especially on South Point Trail.

For the most part birding seems fairly slow in Rondeau today. There are
good numbers of warblers feeding quietly in the treetops at places like
Spicebush Trail, but the rapidly increasing leaf cover is making them
fairly difficult to see.

of our later migrants scattered around. Spicebush Trail seems to be one of

The east side of South Point Trail has been productive, but it has slowed
down to some degree. Yellow-breasted Chat has been seen a few times this

this morning, many singing. Most areas of the park seem very productive.

The morning started off dismal (and snowy!) but things have improved
somewhat. There are not huge numbers of birds in the park, but a number of
interesting things have been seen.

Although the weather is quite unpleasant today, there are a decent number
of birds to be seen. We haven't had many reports but no doubt there are
some interesting things around.

don't seem to be any large concentrations of migrants anywhere, a number of
interesting birds have been seen.

What a difference from yesterday! Although we still don't have really huge
numbers of warblers and other migrants in the park, there are lots of birds

days, with warblers (10 species so far) and other migrants pretty few and
far between.

Good morning birders,
A windy morning here at Rondeau today, and it has been fairly hard to find
birds. However, there seems to be some concentrations in areas leeward of
dense forest (generally on the east side of the park).
A male and female Cerulean Warbler were reported from South Point Trail

morning, but there are still reasonable numbers of migrants from yesterday.
There has been an increase in the numbers of late species like Mourning
Warbler, Eastern Wood-pewee and Red-eyed Vireo.

Rd, and a hummingbird came into the feeders as well.
9 Sandhill cranes were in the dunes along south point trail near the
path that goes out to the light.

Good numbers of ducks on the bay including
mallards, pintails, blue winged teal, green winged teal, wigeon,
gadwall,wood and northern shovelers.
Also on south end of bay 4 egrets, numerous great blues, fly over by
bald eagle.
Spotted sand piper, herring, ring billed and great black back gulls.

This afternoon while boating Rondeau bay we saw 39 sharp shinned and 4
coopers hawks migrating through on the sand point accross from Erieau
in less than an hour.
Also about 1,000 monarch butterflies passed by.
Further in the bay we had large numbers of blue winged teal and lots
of mallards.

A mourning warbler was seen a t4.45pm just north of the visitors centre.

Hello Birders,
Kyle Holloway and myself had a few interesting migrants today at Rondeau
Provincial Park.
FIELD and CHIPPING SPARROWS were common near the Visitor Centre and on the
lawns of some of the cottages. An EASTERN TOWHEE was singing near the
Visitor Centre and some birders reported seeing
Filed sparrows are singing along the beach south of the visitor
centre. Large number of flickers in the same area.
