Just been watching (and photographing) a Thick-billed Murre here in
Kingston. Alerted by a local, at a private address near the water treatment
works on Kingston waterfront, it was followed east along the waterfront at
Queen's University, past Time Statue, past KGH and then on past the Martello
Tow
The Murre is presently 40 feet from the Hotel (Delta) walkway amongst the dock
fingers at the foot of Johnson st in Kingston.

Update from my last report: Bird has one leg that seems to be sticking out a
ways from the body, maybe a injury of some sort. Observed it diving and
catching prey without not to much difficulty. See links for 2 images.

metre out from the end of the boat slips at the end of Johnson Street. The
odds are extremely high that it will be there first thing tomorrow.

The Thick-billed Murre reported by Mark Read swam east close to shore on the
Kingston waterfront and stopped at the foot of Maitland street at the Kingston
Yacht Club. It was just to the west side quite close to shore in the bay where
Maitland street ends. It might overnight at this location as
Just received word from Bob Curry and Glenda Slessor that the murre is at the
docks at the Delta Hotel. This is all the detail I have at present. Just
getting word out.

There was a lot of confusion about this bird today. There were some false
alarms. I went back at 3.30 pm and was shown a photo of a Common Loon and the
birders and press reporter looking had not seen the Murre. I had no positive
reports all day that I believed.
