This morning around 10:30 am I flushed a Yellow Rail. The bird was in a small
wetland on the edge of Lake Bernard.
The wetland is located off Tamarack lane which is a private road, south of the
village of Sundridge.

The Yellow Rail stayed under the same Spruce Tree to the rear ( east side ) oF
Longos Store until 8:57 pm, when I left this evening evening. Wednesday May 8,
2019.
Everyone else came and saw it from 5 pm to almost 9 pm tonight ( some 70

I believe I heard and caught a brief glimpse of one at the left side of the
platform in the pond just east of the southern most parking lot.
The Park is on Lake Ontario at the southern base of Kipling Ave in Toronto
Ontario.

I tried for the rail last night until well after dark, and again at the crack
of dawn. No luck.
There was at least one Sedge Wren singing strongly this morning, south of the
bridge and 60 yards to the west. A few Sandhill Cranes were calling in the
west last night.

The Yellow Rail is calling now just a few feet north of the bridge at the Sedge

On my way home from a meeting in Orillia this past Monday, I checked out Wylie
Road and was pleasantly surprised to find a Yellow Rail on the new Bluebird
Ranch, in the sedges, just south of the Windmill Ranch sign. I clocked the
distance of the location and it is just 4/10ths
Ron Pittaway just called from the Sedge Wren Marsh on Wylie Road to say he
heard a Yellow Rail ticking loudly east of the bridge at 7:48 p.m.
I'm very happy about this because in the 24-hour birding competition The Carden
Challenge on 25 and 26 May, our team of Eleanor Beagan, Jean Iron, A
John Watson, Christine Shackleton and I went for the regularly reported Yellow
Rail and heard it at 8:35 p.m. and using rocks placed on the bridge were able
to simulate its "tapping" call and get frequent responses until about 9:00 p.m.
Frogs were an issue, but so were the Soras, Virg
Today, between 5:15 and 5:30 p.m. the Yellow Rail sang several times
east-southeast of the bridge at the Sedge Wren Marsh on Wylie Road. Also
several Soras and Virginia Rails and an American Bittern were heard well
