hi david,
for my personal taste, the real player application installs too much
other stuff, along with the regular installation. quicktime is only
needed for certain things that specifically require it to run, so no
harm done installing it as long as you disable it in autostart, using
the 'msc
On the jaws user home page Programs you will find both Real Alternative
which is as it says is a less resource hungry alternative to Real Player and
QuickTime Alternative which is the same for QuickTime.
For a long time I have used these instead of the main apps. Both are set up

Hello Joan,
I'm a bit confused when you say that the computer is turned off when it goes
into sleep mode.
It sounds like you're placing your computer on stand by, then, after 30
minutes or so, the computer goes directly into hibernate status.
This is the default reaction for a computer that
Hi John,
A really simple program for you to use is DVD Audio Extractor, which doesn't
require any scripts or anything.
You just ensure that the drive is selected in the drive combo box, tab down
to the list of tracks on the DVD disc, make sure they're all checked, tab
again to the buttons th
Hi, John. Do you have a DVD drive in your computer? I ask because I wanted
a friend of mine to put all the Left Behind books on DVD for me but I
remembered I don't have a DVD drive for my computer. I don't have a DVD
player either.
I had to have my friend put all the books on sendspace so I c
Oops, that was a typing error. What I wanted to say was: In order to
play sounds in Firefox, you need Quicktime. Thanks for putting up with
my bad typing, lol.

I just installed Firefox today, and I'm liking it so far. The only
problem I'm having is that in order to install sounds, you have to
install Quicktime. Is that true? I'd prefer not to install Quicktime,
so I hope there's another solution.

Sleep mode is only available in Vista though. Are you sure it's not standby?

Hi Listers,
I sent an email last week regarding the power options on my computer. I'm
using a Dell Latitude D620, with windows XP SP2. What's happening is this.
If the computer is turned off for 30 minutes or more, it's going in to sleep
mode, (not hibernation, or stand-by, sleep mode.) This is ha
A very dangerous course of action in my opinion, David.

The reason for suggesting this one is that on some machines hitting Ctrl +

Hi, Michael. Unfortunately I didn't hear from my nephew. I tried but I'll
never use him as my computer techie again. When he did the system restore,
he sort of made this computer like a sighted person's computer instead of
setting it up the way I wanted it set up.

Hi Everyone,
Is there anyone on this list that uses Advanced SystemCare? I

impression that the free version will not optimize or clean up my PC

If not, is there any way
