Jennifer & John,
One thing that may be difficult for working on a silhouette type cut out
would be the size of the object. For instance, I was thinking of "cookie
cutter shapes or some of the "playdough" cutters. I think probably, they
are too small and would be hard to secure for a cut of c
Dale & Tom,
Dale, you are correct. If I were more patient and didn't try to get all
done at one time, my hands may have been less beat up. I guess, taking the
learning curve a little slower and working more slow and deliberate would be
the name of the game. There's something to that "taking
Hi River.
You can read all about the click and rotor rules at the following URL.

This is part of a site that Larry and I are putting together for blind

Well, I went to Home Depot and they had a Rigid Palm Nailer and not Porter
Cable. I went ahead and bought one and will be trying it out this week
building a closet. Will let you know how it works for me. If I'm not
completely satisfied I will return it.
Thanks for all the input.

The easiest way for the blind to to use a router with a template.
Rockler sells these templates, but I do not know if they have what you want.
If you do not have a router or want to learn to use one, go to a local
woodworking store and ask if they will find someone who will do this for you

Max,
Gaining skill with a hammer isn't all that difficult. It does take a little
practice admittedly and perhaps because I have been blinder than you for a lot
longer I have some advantage but I really doubt it.
Starting the nail is as it always has been, hold it there and tap a few times

About using screws, I use both a mailer and screws for framing and other
large projects. There is no need to drill pilot holes if you use Torx
screws These screws are only available at lumber yards in my area. I have
looked at Home Depot and Lowes and cannot find them. Torx, to the best of

A palm nailer is a round in shape pneumatic nailer. There is a sleeve on the
bottom of the tool which you put the head of a nail in. Then by pressing the
nailer with your palm, this makes the hammering start. Sounds like a machine
gun when working. I have the Bostitch version which is very s
This pneumatic and palm nailer thread may well coax me into the current
century! I have a modicum of sight left and thought I was reasonably
capable of using a hammer (last Spring). I took on the job of putting some
sheathing on a small barn at my Moms during a visit. I usually attach
things wit
Well, I know how a full-sized nail gun works, but I have never seen
a palm-nailer. How does it work? Does it require the cartridge, a
battery or AC cord? What size nails can such a device handle? I
have a staple gun that also shoots brads.

Ok, now I've used a click rule before, but what is a "rotorrule?"
I believe I may have missed something.

Alrighty, thanks for the info. I'll have to give those cats a call
tomorrow. At present, I have a talking tape measure and a plastic braille
ruler that is not very useful when working with a table and/or a sawsall.

The correct automated tool for framing is a pneumatic nailer of course. I can't
imagine screwing any amount together except perhaps for something unusual or
specialized. I am afraid I am still a framing hammer user though. There is
something very satisfying about stroking big nails into framing.
Porter Cable makes good tools. I don't have one of theirs but they all seem to
work about the same.
For framing I recommend a framing nailer. True it's a single use tool but it's
definitely the point and click tool to frame with.
But if you want to try the palm nailer, give it a whirl. Y
Does anyone on this list have a Porter Cable Palm Nailer and would you
recommend it? Home Depot has one for 90 dollars and I am considering buying
one. I'm doing a lot of framing and I'm tired of drilling pilot holes and
putting three inch screws in. Any redcommendations?

Hi All, Back on the list after a long absence.
I'm looking for a light to medium duty cordless hedge trimmer.
Any recommendations on battery voltage and maker and model?
I would prefer one with double cut instead of single action blades.
Thanks very much, Mitch
River,
You can find the ClickRule and RotoRule at the online NFB store.
http://secure.nfb.org/ecommerce/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=9
Looks like they are gouging 80 bucks for the ClickRule and only a arm and
a leg for the RotoRule at 50 bucks.
