If I had any confidence in the government to pick the best people, I would
agree. Unfortunately, it all comes down to politics now- who was a
supporter, who was a detractor, who the "friends" of the Obama
administration are. I would rather see GM fail and let private money pick up
the pieces and m
Given the fact that GM asked for billions of dollars to stay afloat, I am
not sure how I feel about this. One one hand, I am not so sure I like the
gov't being that involved, but on the other, if we are giving them this
billions, shouldn't we make sure the best people are running the show?

It should also be noted that, at least in New Jersey, once you sign the
authorization card the union can keep and use that card for up to 5 years (
I think it is 5 years) even if you change your mind and decide you do not
want the union.

the United States is a sign-up then an election process. In that, a

Wow, staging a town hall meeting with "friendlies" to ask soft questions.
Isn't that one of the things Bush did that drove liberals crazy?

LOL, you are a true sucker for that populist line. "The unions" - the fat
cats running the show for the unions - no better represent the interests of
the workers than the management of the companies where they work.
Incompetent, self-interested union leadership played a fundamental role in

So you think its a good thing that companies will have a harder time
managing their business they way they want? Essentially, that is what will
happen if it is made easier for unions to get started in a company. I think
it is easy enough as it is now, they do not need any help.
You naivete that

My point wasn't whether YOU see an issue, but whether union leadership
sees an issue. The answer is yes they do, thus they're pursing a
legal remedy to a perceived problem. I was laying out why unions
don't like the current set up.
Business is obvio

BTW the next step is a Mac Mini. I think the Apple TV is just too underpowered.

I disagree. A "secret election" is completely fair because no one will know
about it. That's why it's secret. Perhaps a secret ballot as part of a
normal election would be more effective.
