I started with a Capro and up until a few 7years ago always got my PCs
custom built at computer shows. Rarely had problems and when I did
just went back and bought the needed part.

(also built by hand), etc put a lot of store in things you could
"get in there and dick with", I guess. Color me biased-- The

I've had a mac or a pc since the Mac Plus. In grad school I supported
myself by being the computer lab person, supporting an all mac, an all
pc and and all mixed network. So what I have found through my own
experience is that Macs tend to be the far more reliable machines. And
when something went
pt it won't run anything later than Win98.
Otherwise I would still be using it daily. Leaning toward MacBook Pro
cause I can get family discount but if I don't buy a MBP, I'll
probably get another Sony.

I can get a Dell XPS with a SSD , 6GB of RAM and more for about 1000
dollars less than the similarly configured Mac.

While I like my IBP Battalion 101 gaming laptop, that may be too
expensive for you. I'd look at the MacBookPro 15".

has a great graphics card, it has just 256MB of RAM, the rest will be
shared with main memory
