I had to download a file from ATI for Windows MCE (although I am using
XP), its an encoder.
Once I installed that, Windows Media Encoder started encoding the
video stream just fine.

This worked playing from a video file stored on the hard disk. It stretched it.
However...it seemed to me that it literally chopped out the picture
that would have fallen beneath the bevels of the monitor instead of
just continuing it on either side.
I need to look at it again, but if it did that
