Then why do you read opinion pieces?
Empathy may have been the wrong word. I went onto mention that the
level of responsibility of Southpark is not comparable to that of a
Newspaper, or news channel such as the BBC or CNN.

Too late. Already done it in the super best friends episode, but that might
have gone under the radar. No protests about the use of Mohammed's likeness.

And any group that is offended has the right to be offended when a negative
stereotype is used. I can laugh about it once. Maybe twice, but when it's
ongoing and will influence what people think about Jews, then I worry.

South Park is satire, and is free speech.
We should never give up our right to question, and our right to satire

South Park has a right to poke satirical commentary at Scientology.

they want.

Now, the funny thing with the Scientology episode (which I watched
again last night), I got the impression they were making fun of all
the people in real life commenting on Tom needing to come out of the
closet rather than actually making fun of Tom.
I also liked the random merging of Scientology

Right. Hayes can put up with every other religion being beaten upon but
his own. There's almost a negative Jewish reference per episode and he had
no problem with it ('don't be a Jew stan' when stan says he doesn't want to
spend his money).
As for cruise, it's all 'behind the scenes'. It'll

I think being able to accept that people will make jokes about you
that you don't like is an absolute requirement if you choose to be a
celebrity. Granted it's harder to reneig on celebrity status once
you've got it, but Johnny Dep for example is nearly off the radar now

Well, Isaac Hayes might not have the kind of influence that Tom Cruise does :)
Walking away is (in my own very humble opinion) his way of "throwing a
fit". Which I would have been ok with if not for the fact that I find
it to be terribly hypocritical that he's made a good deal of money
making fun
I'm just saying. There is a difference between walking away, which is
what he did, and what Tom Cruise MAY have done, used his power to have
the show pulled off the air. I think what he did was fair. We all have
a place, whaever it is, where things cant go, by that I mean where
jokes should not go.
Right...he didn't want to be associated with the show anymore because
he was offended by the Scientology episode.
He had no problems cashing checks he earned from shows that made fun
of any other religion tho.

To be fair, unlike Cruise, Isaac Hayes just left the show, which to
me, is the -right- way to protest. He simply didn't want to be
associated with the show anymore (from what I read.)
