It can be done with a little messing arround.
Years ago I use a program called hidewnd (I think) that ran in the system
tray and enabled you to hide windows, essentially removing them from the
task bar completely. When you un-hid them they filled the task bar in the

Thanks Marlon!

I'm the same way. I'm irritated right now because my PC's desktop is
cluttered. I hate that if I drag a file onto the 2nd desktop, open it,
change it, and save it, it jumps back to the first.
I also generally open apps in the same order when I'm

You could write a batch file that launches them in order, but load times
might mess up their order on your tool bar.
I just have a specific order for my apps on my quick launch. Just so I

had so many too close for comfort deadlines that we barely made this

years. Arrrgggh!. I'd

I've searched for a utility that would do this numerous times. No luck. It
certainly would be handy.
I've contemplated using multiple desktops or creating one shortcut that
opens my default programs in a specific order (outlook, homesite, firefox,
access {as a front end for sql server}). Of

I am not sure the answer to this question, however in the absence of the
answer a good hack will often prove acceptable. Why not just overwrite
that image with something more appropriate until you can figure out the
real cause?

Are you saying you log on as Administrator or another account?
Generally, even though you may be an admin, there is still an
Administrator account local to each computer.
Maybe you renamed or removed that account? You can look at the user
profiles in the properties of My Computer (I think).

Well...I hope you've started using AntiSpyware .
Microsoft's free one is quite good.
Combine it with Spybot Search And Destroy (not the memory resident portion) and

Ad-Aware is shit. Delete it. Even if it finds something it won't
remove it completely.

convert, but... I want to be *able* to.
However, somehow in the process I lost my start menu. When I click
start, I get New Office Document, Open Office Document,
