The third DevNet Resource Kit (available from Macromedia) has a CFMX implementation of "Lindex" (short for "Lucene Index") - a text search engine that's been getting a lot of good word of mouth.  It's in pure Java so it also works on platforms that don't support Verity. There's information about

Us too - had a terrible time. We switched to Index Server figuring if it was bundled with IIS it must be at least stable. That wasn't the case either. We've had the catalog move off to another box so its not running in the same space as the site. That seems to have fixed it. ** Kevin Park
