The thread was valid as it was not really about pdf files but more of a 'how
to secure/deliver a file type within a ColdFusion Application'.
The list is there to help people write CF applications and in many ways to
teach those who are new to CF ways of improving their application

And you presume sending over a PDF as a .CFM is somehow acceptable?
Uh, no, I didn't suggest that.
As I've noted in earlier posts, you can send any file you want with any
filename you want using something like the following:
CFHEADER name="Content-Disposition"

You can restric permissions to that directory so that noone but the
cfserver has permission to access it. That way when they try
to access it
directly through the URL and IIS (or PWS whatever you have
running) makes
the call they will get a permission denied error.
Or just put the file

PDF's, it doesn't care about making text flash in your browser, it
doesn't care about ANYTHING but parsing .cfm files!

I disagree. People are going to stop reading the list if it is so deluged
with off-topic and dumb questions that the real questions that are related
to CF are lost in the flood. Someone asked yes
chunk of flame-bait, but this kind of response
has got to stop or people are going to stop reading...

Hmm .. having a bad day?
There are third party "plug-ins" for Acrobat 4.0 that can do this. An
example would be the electronic version on CD-ROM of the Mastering
ColdFusion 4.0 book by Armin Danesh. Have a look at the Acrobat site
(http://www.adobe.com/acrobat/) or the PDF Zone at

I was a little dissapointed in that, actually, since it insisted that I
downgrade to version 3 of Acrobat if I wanted
