It's about time 2Advanced updated their site...
And in regards to Flash sites v. HTML/AJAX even usability expert Steve
Krug says that they are appropriate for showcasing art work or for a
band site. In fact, Jacob Nielson has made some minor concessions to
that extent as well.

I don't like it. Too busy, too unintuitive to navigate. Too hard to read.
Sure looks purty though. I'd say flashturbation is about right.

Where have you been ? Under a rock comes to mind :)
2Advanced has been one of the leading bureaus for several
years now. You love 'em or you hate 'em but at least they
made people think about what you could do ( flash 5 days )
with Flash and creative coding.

errr umm dunno. I guess since I'm not much of a designer, I have not had a
reason to browse at that kinda stuff. I just kind of ran across it and
thought...wow!! Just think of the mind blowing stuff they could do with CF
integration.

Pretty much every flash programmer knows about them. The guys that
work there wrote some flash books. 2advanced set the bar and a lot of
other flash design companies just copy the 2advanced designs.

Funny that you said thatThis is from the creator of 2advanced
Q: Can you tell us a bit about your history to Flash? What is your story
behind this wonderful concept of 2advanced?
A: I was introduced to Flash when I saw Gabocorp.com. The first ever 100%
flash site, which blew me away. It
Personally, I *HATE* 100% flash web sites.
It is my experience that great flash designers are poor UI people, and most
flash sites - including this one - are terribly obnoxious to use, filled
with lots of time wasting crap, hard to read text, incomprehensible UI
paths, etc.

Wowquite the whinefest going on about Flash!!
You know if nobody ever pushed the boundaries, we'd never advance.
I have similar feelings about fancy for the sake of fancy, but it is quite the
site regardless.
Check out their client roster.they must be doing something right ;-)
Cheers
I have to agree with Rick on this one. Well, perhaps not all
Flash sites, just all Flash sites like this one. When the
site focuses more on imagery and look what we can do,
rather than sound design, navigation and usability priciples,
I get annoyed because they are so hard to use.
But
It is a great site...I went to view one of their client examples, hit
the back button, and suddenly had a pretty picture with no navigation.
They obviously knew I was done looking at their site. That takes some
serious UI design skills.
And you have to remember that it is Marketing that is making these
decisions. I am sure we have all worked with a Marketing department at one
point in our careers. They LOVE this stuff. They are all about 'what bells
and whistles can you add to my UI to make it stand out above the
competition'?
of Flash and stereotypes it.
Cheers,
!k
