I just bought one for my '66
at National Parts Depot.
It's not concourse but it is
very nice.

Here is what I did. I used 4x4's inside the frame
rails to support the body. Then I lowered the frame
(takes several Jacks to do this). Then with the frame
down, I used longer 4x4's and blocked the body on the
outsides of the frame and dragged the frame out from
under the car. viola!

That is funny. I get to going faster than I can
type.

Can the popping cause damage? I thought they recommend the 70 series
because they are quieter when running a big block? Anyone out there
running 40 series on a big block?

Friend of mine has 40 series on his 427/450. They are loud but no cracking
or backfiring sounds. Maybe after their broke in?

Does anyone know where I could find information on the carburetor size that
was on the 66 Malibu, 2 barrel, 283 motor. I need to replace mine and was
thinking about getting a edelbrock 4 barrel manifold and carb but not sure

I don't need the doors, but I could use both driver and passenger side
windows mounted in their assemblies for a 1967 Chevelle Coupe. The
windows in my car come out of the U shaped channel, which is all that
holds them in. I was told I need the full assembly with the window, but
I don't care as
I need to change out the cam in my 396. I basically
want to go with a milder, closer to stock cam for better drivability. Can
I do this with the motor in the car? It appears as though the radiator
and grill will have to come out, and since I need to replace the grill anyhow,
thats not too
I have done several cams that way. Should be no
problem.

Nope.

Rob,
It is a
piece of cake to swap the cam in this situation with out removing the motor.
Remove distributor, intake, push rods, and lifters. Pull harmonic balancer,
timing cover, and timing chain and gears. I always bolt the cam gear back on to
help get the cam out with out scratching the
The x pipes seem so expensive. How hard would it be to take two pieces and
have them bent into the right configuration, flare the ends, grind the
holes, weld them together, install braces on the top and bottom, and
install. Too much trouble?

They just did a cam swap on a 66 small block on HPTV.
The only clearance problem was the rear of the bumper. If you find that
the case, you can do what they did and jack the engine up a couple of inches or
drop the front bumper. Try as you may, that cam just won't bend at that
last journal.
Hey guys,
my machine picked up a bug and stopped and deleted all mail from all senders. The bug has been squashed but I have missed out on all mail from the list from the last 4 days. Has anything good been going on? BTW, the 65 SS is still having to be sold if anyone is interested email me off

Hi John,
I did the same thing on my '64. Used the Edelbrock 600 CFM 4 BBL. Does get the job done grin.

A 283-2 isn't going to take much fuel to get it running. Probably the
smallest 4-bbl from Edelbrock would be their 500cfm unit (#1404). Another
choice would be a Holley 390cfm (#0-8007) for a small engine
(http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/Products/FMS/FMSC/0-8007.html). An
Edelbrock
((Engine CID
x Max RPM) / 3456) x Volumetric Efficiency = CFM
Example:
350 CID
7000 RPM
Max
Assume you
want 100% VE
Looks like
this:
((350 x
7000) / 3456) x 1 = 709 CFM
If you
generally always assume that you want the CFM that will give you 100% VE, you
can remove that
But...you're lucky to get 75%-80% VE on any given street engine.
:*) A normal street 283 isn't going to see the high side of 5500 and live
very long either, to be honest. So...in the real world
283 * 5500 / 3456 = 450. Multiply that times 75% and you get
338. Of course, there are always

Do you Yahoo!?
Yahoo! Mail SpamGuard - Read only the mail you want.
What you are supposed to do is *be realistic* about what max RPM you will be
running at, and find the CFM that will get you 100% VE at that RPM. Using
the formula to find a carb that will get you 75% VE at your max RPM kind of
defeats the purpose of using the formula if you ask me.
Now, it's true
If u want to I can zip email u the latest 4 days of list
