to me it sounds like the starter solenoid is getting the heat and therefore wont
work, I'd try a heat shield on the starter.

I checked the oil today. It was actually about a quart low and I filled it.
I do lose a little oil for some reason. I haven't delved into it yet. That
was a couple of hours before the hot start problem happened though. The

Thanks. I am definitely going to try that right away. I've seen cars crank
hard when hot because of timing, but this one doesn't crank at all. Seems
pretty extreme, especially since I'm running with stock pistons.

I believe from checking out my fuel sending unit and gauge, that in 1964
they were 50 OHM and in 1965 they went to 90 OHM. I have a 90 OHM
sending unit and a 90 OHM gauge, but it is not working the full range of the
gauge. It only reads about half the range on the gauge.
