engine out to see them. Also, you may be able to identify it by the head casting

on a 350 in my Nova. What I did was bring #1 piston to TDC using a piston stop
and then looking at where the timing mark is. I was off about 10 deg. because of
an aftermarket timing tab. When I figured out where TDC was I applied a
timing tape to the balancer. Be sure

with headers that were made "special" for my '69 Nova. Guaranteed to fit!! I had
to jack the drivers side up and slip them in. And when I lowered the engine back
on the mount the guaranteed fit was hitting the power steering. Well I couldn't
send them back as I had them
John, I fully understand. My first new house broke me. I had to sell my best
car ever up to that point. A 1961 #'s matching Corvette. We had no furniture
to sit on. Since that time I have had 6 cars as things got better for me.

I don't know if an HEI can go bad but I know a point type coil can degrade.
I agree that it usually turns out to be the module. I replaced one once and
forgot to put the special grease on the bottom and wiped that one out in no
time.
