thanks dale you hit the nail on center i don't have the strap there, i always figured the ground came from somewhere in the harness, so im going to check that out first, if anyone has the complete wire harness on a diagram i would love to have it i lost my only chevelle book i had, or it placed in

From what I can tell of my '69, the junction block that is mounted
on/near/by the radiator mount on the passenger side of the car (near
the battery) Is where power runs from the battery (via that larger red
wire in your harness) to the main fuse block for the rest of the car. I
believe this is
The Junction Block is used as a power tap source. Instead of trying to wire
5 things to the positive post on the battery, a large gauge wire (8 or 10)
is run from the battery to a single-post (in most cases) junction block.
Anything that needs a direct hot lead is then run from this block. As
