Arlene, I've certainly heard both sides of the story. It may depend on the
individual dog. The people that live next door to me waited until their male
shih tzu was 1 1/2 years old to get him neutered and he's never marked and
never humped, and is a great dog.

This is early, but there is no consequences from nuetering them this early. I
work for a
rescue group and we nueter all the puppies at 8 weeks. His hormones still

about a month after his nueter. Those hormones still flow regaurdless of his
nueter. He

The vast majority of vets will not neuter until both have dropped and/or 6
months of age. Most pups that have undecended testicles, the vet will advise
to wait till the pup is a year old to see if they will drop first, since
that is a much simpler procedure. I
If you do find the article, Jeannine, I would like to read it. I, personally,
am not for early spay/neuter. I don't see the point in it and think it is
probably bad for the health of the dog (which should be the most important
thing).

The growth hormones are in all that stuff the vet is removing so if you remove
too early, they never grow up mentally and never reach their full potential.

I was wondering about this type of extremely early neutering. From everything
I've heard and read this is VERY early. An animal has not fully developed
neither personality-wise nor physically.
When I nuetered my little Roman he was about 12 weeks old and he had yet to
drop. My
vet did a quick cat nueter on him and he was playing when I brought him home
that
evening. We were in and out within 10 hours and he was great. I hope your
little boy starts
to feel a bit better.
