The switch happened for Ubuntu Studio 11.10.
To know more about the reasons
i use debian/ubuntu dists on coreduo or quad 32 bit (currently mostly
ubuntu 10/11) on pc and mac, but fedora worked fine as well (simply
since i started with debian it's easy for me).
I use cinelerra compiled from scratch from community git picking up
from Monty version or other contribution

First of all, thanks for all your suggestions!
I didn't know about trinity, and I'll certainly try it to see if that
gives improvement over KDE4; then again, this will almost certainly not
fix the problems and annoyances with printing, firewire and proprietary
codecs.

quit the systeme en 2008 since I'm with ubuntu. At the beginning I was
