I will be considering this for a small company switching solution. Does
anyone see any problems with it.?
-4908G-L3 for backbone (I can route between vlans; works with IP and IPX)
-2950G-48 for one for main floor
-2950G-24 for each of the other five floors
-WS-5484 GBICs for each end of fiber
Not to sound too harsh, but if you have problems with
dlsw+,ipx, voice, bgp and atm... then you have a big problem.
The good news is that you have identified your areas of weakness..
For dlsw+, get the book by Tam Nam Kee...for BGP make sure you read
thru Halabi's book a few times (concentrate on th

Maybe you should wait then until after November, when they are going to drop
IPX and TR stuff... (that's what I'll do), but don't forget that DLSW+ is
still valid with Ethernet (it should be easier, though)... in the meanwhile,
practice BGP like hell... voice and atm you really should get a rack b
Don't know what RAI is, Steve?? but you can use a gatekeeper or just
configure dial peers on your gateway with the same matching digits and
different destinations, you can prioritise them too

Dear Elmer,
No , If you want to monitor ISIS adjacencies, use this command :
SHOW CLNS neighbor or SHOW CLNS NEIGHBOR DETAILED
The host ID is SNPA and the traffic is classified with L1L2 or L2L2.
The command may be used only in the router connected in the same ethernet of
the clns traffic t
I have been having a recurring problem in the past 2
weeks (usually daily) which is solved by power cycling
my Motorola Surfboard 4100 cable modem. I'm using a
PIX 520 firewall with the attached config.
When the problem occurs, the cable modem's LED's
appear normal. And Comcast is able to ping
Of course, in their case, it would have to be ISNT-ISNT.

If i'm reading your situation correctly you should be able to poll all
information. I'm not sure if each VLAN has an assigned IP address as in
MLS. If so I believe you should be able to poll each IP segment.

Yes it is still L3,L4 switching as long as you have the MSFC you will have
no problem. You have to enable MLS on the Sup Engine as well to have this
work.
