We are using RouterSim Ver 2 in our Academy. So far, it seems adequate
for CCNA level study, with various types of routers switches. There are
a number of things we would like improved/changed, but isn't that the case

At next boot up it will not try and auto load configuration files from a network

We have just started using Ver 2 of RouterSim in our classes. While it
does have some limitations (would really like to be able to do tracert
from the wkstns) and a few minor bugs it appears to be well suited for
CCNA preparation. I can't speak to CCNP level study, but given the

Robert,
If you don't mind taking a while, look for a Cisco Networking Academy program.
We are now offering CCNP level courses (1 course per semester) and they are both
CBT Heavy Hands-on based. I know there is one in San Diego as they teach the
rest of us how to teach the course. Here is the

Below is the response I got from Cisco regarding the focus of the new
CCNP curriculum, specifically Semester 5 (Semesters 1-4 are for the

Dale, perhaps you can give us first-hand knowledge of the new program as
you go through it. I'm sure
Dale,
When I left Networkers 2K I was under the impression that the new CCNP program
was going to be based on Ver. 2.0 exams. What is the source of your
information? I have sent an email to Cisco requesting clarification. I'll post
to the group when I find out the official word.

Billy,
The current procedure is one CCNP course (there are four) per school
semester. Networking Academies are not (at this time) allowed to deliver
the curriculum any faster than that. Given the amount of information and
lab experiments contained in these courses (generally much more than
because they are sent to you
twice. For example, I am answering Thomas Lisa directly and sending it to
the mailing list. Because he is also subscribed to the mailing list he will
receive two copies. Again, not a problem

At Networkers 2K all the Academies were told to implement 12.0 on their
routers. I assume that's because the new exam (or perhaps the next
revision) is based on it and is probably why Todd included it in his new
book.

We do it all the time (for two years now) and haven't noticed any
problems. However, I should state that the EE in our group says it isn't
a good thing. I guess we'll keep doing it since we have a SmartNet
contract. :)

I don't know how definitive this is but, the newest version of the Cisco

The latest version (2.1) of Cisco's Networking Academy curriculum still teaches

advanced topic. This curriculum was released around Jan/Feb this year. My
guess would be that at the CCNA level you would still assume
