Hi, As I understand it you are using LPT1 on your PC. My learning has always indicated that the LPT ports are parallel ports. These are very different electrically from the com ports which are serial ports. The connections to the switch are serial connecteions these are the ports used by

Can I use a regular 25 pin DB cable to connect to a 3000's console port? If so, what terminal emulation software do you recommend? I have tried Tera Term pro and Hyperterminal (new version) and it appears to not allow using lpt1. I am wondering if I might have to hack together a 25 pin9 pin
