There is no comparision. The MCSE is utilized for Operating System
problems/engineering, while a CCNA/CCNP is there to take care of the
networking infrastructure. For every 100-500 workstations you may only have
one router. Therefore if you are at end user site the MCSE will go a far
way.
Hi All,
I know this may be a stupid question, but I just wanna know your feeling in
comparing between the value of MCSE and CCNA/CCNP certifications. If you
are a hiring manager or a technical person who handles the interviewing,
what certification is more value or more weight to you
experience, regardless of certification.

Hi All,
I know this may
ML,
Your point is well stated, but a little misplaced. A CCNA is the bottom level cert.
You are comparing it with MCSE and a higher Unix cert. That is not a fair comparison.
You should compare the MCSE with a CCNP and in the case of the Unix Guru, probably a
CCIE.
But with that said, I
one has very little to do with the other.
I would recommend that you try to obtain your CCNA.
Best of luck

I would like to reply to this, I have a very good friend that is a UNIX
guru, makes a ton of cash and is very respected in the industry. Recently he
did some studying and took the CCNA and passed. He does not need the cert
to earn more, mainly because it does not make a difference. But he did

I want to start my cisco certification next year, must I have my MCSE first
before moving in to CCNA ? or I can do it directly without bothering myself
with MCSE first.
Any little advice will be appreciated.
Thank you.

I would agree with Howard. It depends on what you want to do, but unless
your sa easoned Unix dude then you may want to do both. I think the overall
training the MCSE gives is very helpful in actually designing networks.
Configuring routers and switches are easy but knowing where to put them
hi
though it is not compulsory, it is recommended to have some knowledge on some
network operation system administration like win-nt or unix.
then go for cisco certifications.
but i do repeat, for ccna, mcse knowledge is not pre-requisite.
