That's absolutely not true. In order to do something like that, they would
have to custom compile IOS code specific to the CCIE Lab to have that
removed. Believe me, the "?" is an integral part of working with Cisco
devices from the command line.

Using the master command reference seems to help find a lot of things. If
you order any new equipment they will give you a copy of the CD so go check
your old boxes. Just remember that the CD in the lab may not necessarily be
new. It's not unusual to have a CD that is a year old.

That's the right CD, but a little out dated. You can use the most current
info. right of CCO by going to "technical documentation". The search
function is horrible so I would suggest learning exactly where things are.

Re your questions:
1 - I think you are correct. In the past candidates were required to
configure the F/R switch but I believe this is done for you now. Whether or
not you have any access to it is another question...I would have to assume
no but I won't know for sure for another 7 days :)

Currently, San Jose has 2 slots opened: one for 9/06/2001 ( I guess it 's
kind of late) and one for 9/11/2001.

It is going to be very hard to get a date before the switch, you will have
to probably go to another country. My thinking is wait for the one-day that
way if you go down you will at least know the layout and format. If you take
the two-day and go down the next time you go back you will see a new f

2) Config and Command texts are a complete set of books. I have heard that
they now cost $600 for the set. I haven't found where to order them. In the
old days I received them without charge when purchasing a router. Just had
to push the point.
As an example I have the 11.1 set. The first book is
Ty,
I have asked the same questions to CCIEs and the consensus is:
1. IOS version is the latest stable release - they probably don't change it
every day.
2.You will have a laptop with the documentation CD - use that and forget about
the paper version (access is too slow). Cut and paste into you
You also get the CD to do searches. I have been told know the CD well as
the book takes too long to page through.

Short answer, they provide you with paper.
Long answer, straight from Cisco
