Hi there I dont see any routing statements i.e router rip , network 10.0.0.0 ,network 10.0.10.0 etc Your router needs a 'map' to show it how it can pass network info from one segment to another . Dont worry about asking so called stupid questions because your 'stupid' questions teaches a lot

Did you enable IP routing? What is your Routing protocol? you know RIP, IGRP, EIGRP Did you check your routing table using "sh ip route"? That default route (0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.0.0.1)...does the 10.0.10.0 Network now how to get there? email me: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I think were close to the sam

I didn't see anything wrong with your config, I would suggest you checking the routing table on host 10.0.0.115 . Make sure it knows how to get back your network 10.0.10.0 via 10.0.0.250. It's very likely that your ping is getting to the host, but the reply is not getting back to your router. T

Quick thoughts: Check the router: Can you do an extended ping from the interface address of one Ethernet interface to the other Ethernet interface address. If so, the router can find its subnets in the routing table. Do show ip route to verify. Check the computer: Layer one Are you connected the c

Thanks for your feedback John. I see what you are saying about the default gateway - and now realize I should have specified more of my setup in the original email. :-) The default gateway in the 10.0.0.115 host is 10.0.0.1. 10.0.0.1 is an interface on a firewall that NATs traffic to the

Becky, I'm not even sure if this would come into play with just one router and not using routing protocols, but did you enable ip routing? Ping uses ICMP which is part of IP so that might be the issue. Hope I helped...and hope I wasn't wrong in my assumption ;) If someone see's that I was w

If a regular ping works but a ping sourced from the 10.0.0 network does not work, I would check the default gateway setting in the host 10.0.0.115. It will automatically know how to reply to a ping from 10.0.0.250 since they are on the same subnet. It may not, however, know where to send packet

I don't see anything glaring in your config (mind you, it's been a long day for me, so I may be suffering from temporary blindness...). I believe you'll find that the node you're attempting to ping at 10.0.0.115 doesn't have a route back to the 10.0.10.0 network. Check its default route with (I'm
